RC is 3 months old

We have made it to 3 months already. Can you believe it? Time have flown by. RC weighs 16 lbs and 26 1/2 inches long. This measurement was captured by the good ole scale and measuring tape. His next doctors appointment isn't until 4 months. Big boy! Every time someone asks me, "How old is he?" I say 3 months. We always get the same response. "Oh my, he's a big boy" LOL. I just laugh and say, "Yes, he never skips a meal" He is still eating 6 oz every 4-5 hours. He's still sleeping great too. We are still bathing and feeding him around 8-9pm and he sleeps until 6-7am. We are blessed. He's a happy man. We bought him a jumper and he loves it even though only one foot touches the ground :) Not much longer until he can touch and jump around. He loves sitting up (with mommy and daddy's help of course) He's smiling and giggling much more. He's grabbing toys now and starting to throw over his leg but hasn't rolled over yet. We have stopped swaddling him since he is sleeping in warm winter sleepers. He surprisingly has done well and rarely wakes himself up failing his arms around.

Mommy goes back to work Nov. 2nd. I'm still nervous and sad that I won't be able to spend the entire day with him to capture every special moment and trust that someone else will care for him the way I would. I know I'm not the only mother saddened by leaving her child and in time I will get over my fears. If only money grew on trees....

Big Boy Chair

This morning RC sat up all by himself in a big boy chair. He's getting so strong in supporting his head, he didn't even fall over once. Mom was so proud of him. He waived his hands around and giggled the whole time. It was incredibly cute so of course Mom had to get the camera out which he seems to love. He's such a happy little man and growing like a weed.

p.s. picture a little blurry but it was so cute I just had to post it

Our Happy Boy

Today RC is 10 weeks old. He seems to already be developing his little personality. Lately, he is very content and calm. We have somewhat of a routine down that I feel is relaxing him much more.

First, he gets up every morning at 5:30 am. He eats, burps and Mom swaddles him back to bed. He wakes up at 9:00 ish and we play in his room for awhile. He loves listening to his Baby Einsteins morning music while Mom talks about the plans for the day and gets him dressed. He talks back and smiles sweetly.

Then we do our second morning feeding and it's off to playtime. RC LOVES his play mat. It's very colorful with lots of toys hanging down for him to try and grab or move. He's still working on the grabbing. The play mat has a little star that blinks and music that plays. He kicks and flails around cooing and talking aloud. We may run errands or shop and he loves places with lots of sound and bright lights. Depending on the weather, Mom takes him on a stroll in the beautiful sunshine. We switch it up from time to time and either swing for awhile, bounce or have tummy time. Gotta keep RC's attention and keep him entertained.

Our next feeding is generally around 2pm and then it's nap time. RC has been napping for 3-4 hours in the afternoon. This gives Mom time to really get a few things done around the house. About the time RC wakes up Daddy is home to play with and get some guy time.

Finally as day turns to night we start our bath about 8 or 9 pm. We get him lathered up with smelly good baby lotion, Mom cleans his ears, brushes his hair, gets him dressed and Dad reads him a book. Just about the time he can barely keep his eyes open, Dad feeds him and off to bed he goes. The day starts all over again.

RC is such a sweet boy. He rarely cries anymore and I attribute that to us understanding him and his needs. It just gets sweeter everyday :O)

Big Man on Campus

RC had his two month checkup today. Can you believe it's been that long already? Time flies. RC weighed 14.6 lbs and 24.5 inches long. He is in the 93rd percentile for height and 95th for weight. He's the big man on campus :)

Bless his little heart, RC got 3 vaccination shots too. He turned red as a beet and balled his little eyes out. Daddy felt his pain and cried too. (it was so sweet)

RC was especially fussy the rest of the day. Mommy made sure to give him some extra loving and comforting. How could you not want to cuddle with this little man and this cute face?

Hooray :)

RC slept through the night! With a little help from Nana and Mommy and a half of teaspoon of rice cereal in his good night bottle. RC slept from 10pm to 7am.

Hooray!

Kidney Stones Stink, Aunt Lisa ROCKS

48 hours ago Mommy had the most excruciating pain in her life. Even worse than labor and postpartum pain. It was Mommy's first girls night out for dinner and a movie when it was cut short by a sharp pain on her side and back. The pain increasingly got worse when Mommy realized she needed to go to the hospital. Doctor confirmed it was a 3mm kidney stone. The grandparents came and took care of Mommy while Aunt Lisa took RC home. The hospital was the last place mommy wanted RC to be with all the swine flu going around. Aunt Lisa drove home cautiously with mommy's special cargo.

Thank goodness Aunt Lisa was off work the next day, she spent the entire day watching RC and taking care of Mommy. She was super-woman. She was washing bottles, changing diapers, swaddling, feeding, burping, rocking, entertaining, cuddling and all the while getting Mommy her medicine, water and wet towels. Aunt Lisa ROCKS.

RC sprouted out

It's official, RC is a big boy now. He has grown out of his newborn clothes. He just turned 7 weeks yesterday and he's sprouted out of them overnight. I had to get one last picture of him in one of my favorite newborn onsies. "Hug Me" How could you not want to hug this little man?

This morning RC had his first tear. He was very mad at mommy. He was red faced and poubted his little lip up while mommy was getting those mean ole boogers out of his nose. Tears rolled down his little cheek and it broke my heart. Of course, that didn't last long, mommy came to the rescue with a warm bottle of milk. He was happy camper.

RC is defininately developing more and more each day. He is on the brink of laughing out loud and smiling. We catch a few grins here and there. He has had a few coos but not a full on laugh yet. Mommy is anxious for this day. Mommy has been practicing his first word everyday "Maa-Maa" (wink wink daddy)
