Its About Time

I woke up this morning and decided it was about time to start blogging, a better time than ever. I'll be blogging on a daily basis about our little boy RC of course. He's our pride and joy. Everyone keeps saying, "cherish every moment, he'll be grown before you know it". If this is true, not only will we cherish every moment but we will have a blog to look back on and also be able to share it with friends and family.
So here goes...

Today RC is 6 weeks old. It doesn't seem that long ago we were in the hospital. He's doing great. He is an early bird. He's very alert with his eyes wide open and always interested in his surroundings. He absolutely loves his room and enjoys staring at his plane hanging from the ceiling. He's eating like a little piggy 5-6 ounces every 4-5 hours. He loves his tummy time and his swing. He's sleeping about 6-7 hours at night. Yay! Hopefully it won't be long until he sleeps through the night. He loves to be held all the time just like his daddy. (Do you blame him after being in the NICU for so long) He's a good burper (loud) just like his mommy. He LOVES his baths at night. He starts snoozing during them and immediately after them.

A friend recommended a book "Happiest Baby on the Block". We just finished reading it and it's amazing how much valuable information for first time parents. RC is all about the 5 "S"s.
1. Swaddling - This is a must otherwise RC is flaling around and gets himself so worked up.
2. Sucking - He has his favorite orange "passy". We were hoping he wouldn't be a passy baby, but hey, never say never. If it helps calm and makes him relaxed, give him two. lol
3. Side/Stomach - Mommy gives him tummy time during the day with supervision and will rock him on his side until he goes to sleep and then I put him on his back, of course.
4. Shushing - This works everytime. I bought a "white noise" machine that seems to help too. :O)
5. Swinging - He likes his swing (he has to be swaddled in the swing though) He loves his car rides and anything with vibration.

Today has been a relaxing day. It's been raining so we've stayed inside sleeping and playing.
RC loves when we play the "this little piggy" game and "1 little 2 little 3 little indians" game with his cute toes. I just can't get enough of his sweet face, soft skin, little hands/toes, cute little legs and his smell. The feeling inside when I hold him while he's sleeping or just looking up at me is simply priceless. It's indescribable. Everyday I learn something new about RC and it makes me even more excited about being a mom.
